I’m Whitney Shaw.
I’m a lifestyle family photographer and visual storyteller in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. What is better than getting your photos taken in the mountains?
My photography style is simple, natural, and raw - focusing on shots that convey real moments. In my experience, the best photos are the ones that unfold naturally and tell who we really are, not who people expect us to be. While I specialize in family and kids photos in a natural outdoor setting in the mountains, I also offer headshots, newborns, seniors, proposals + weddings/special events upon request. Every moment big or small is worth capturing and treasuring in any season of life you find yourself in. Adventure sessions are another inquiry…if you find yourself on vacation whether you are hiking, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or finding all the trails Routt County has to offer..these sessions are for you.
Therefore, I do limited posing and editing, and instead, I focus on capturing my families and individuals in their natural element that speaks to their unique legacy. I want to ensure the photographs that I produce reflect the subject, not me as a photographer.
These photos will hopefully be passed on for generations, hung on the walls of your homes to tell the story of who you are and from where you came. Photos that trigger memories reminding you of the different seasons you have walked through, endured, and conquered.
We all have a story to tell, and my intention is to create photographs that will do just that.
